There are certain records that leave you fascinated when you first hear them and this is certainly one. Matthew Schoening is a young cellist, born in 1981, in San Francisco. This is his fourth album, with its entire 45 minutes recorded live and divided into 5 movements (Water, Air, Fire, Earth & Spirit), hence the title “Elements”. This disc also carries the subtitle “Live and Uncut” and was recorded entirely as it sounded at the concert, without any editing or cutting. All sounds were created with the electric cello and loops executed with a Boss RC-50 looping pedal.

To the 75 privileged audience members, who had the pleasure of attending this concert, Matthew Schoening proves he is a prodigy at interpreting the electric cello - a master, giving us a powerful, quality performance. The strength this man is able to bring to the instrument, during his performance, is amazing. The sound that transmits when you hear this album will give you chills and make you envious that you were not present at the event itself. Undoubtedly, Matthew Schoening is one of the greatest cellists of today. A composer and interpreter who, according to himself, is growing musically every day, composition by composition. If he continues down this path we can venture to say he will have an extraordinary career as a composer.

“Elements” is an album which succeeds at bringing forth each of the four elements, through this young cellist and all within a live performance format. It is good to know that those of us, who were not present for the original performance, can enjoy this wonderful album, to which I cannot stop listening.

Hay discos que cuando los escuchas por primera vez te dejan fascinados, este es uno de ellos.Matthew Schoening es un joven cellista nacido en 1981 en San Francisco y este es su cuarto trabajo, un disco grabado en directo de 45 minutos de duracción y divido en 5 movimientos (Water, Air, Fire, Earth & Spirit) de ahí el título de este trabajo, "Elements". Este disco además lleva el subtítulo de "Live and Uncut" y es que fue grabado íntegramente tal y como sonó en el concierto, sin ningún tipo de edición ni corte y todos los sonidos fueron creados con el cello eléctrico y los loops ejecutados con un Boss RC-50 looping pedal.

Para una audiencia de 75 priveligiados que tuvieron el placer de asistir a este concierto, Matthew Schoening demostró ser todo un prodigio de la interpretación del cello eléctrico, todo un maestro donde aportó calidad y energía a us interpretación. Es increible la fuerza que este hombre aportó a ese instrumento durante esta actuación, el sonido que ha sido capaz de transmitir, solo de escuchar el disco se eriza el cabello al imaginar la situación y se llena uno de sana envidia por no estar presenta en ese evento. Sin lugar a dudas estamos ante uno de los grande cellistas de la actualidad, un joven compositor e interprete, que como él dice, está creciendo musicalmente todos los días, composición tras composición y si sigue por este camino, no podemos más que aventurar grandes éxitos en su carrera compositiva.

"Elements" un trabajo donde los elementos se hacen presentes en forma de una interpretación magistral por parte de un cellista que los ha aglutinado todos en una actuación en directo digna para recuerdo y que los que no fuimos priveligiados de verlo en directo podemos disfrutar en este maravilloso trabajo que no puedo dejar de escuchar.
