My name is Matthew Schoening (Shane-Ing). I play electric cello through a complex process of live looping. This means that I can record myself live, and instantly play back what I just recorded, while playing on top of it or adding to it. This results in a solo performance that can sound like a full band, or even an entire symphony.

I have two rules for myself...
1) Whatever music I compose has to be able to be performed live by me, with no pre-recorded tracks. This means that what you hear on my albums is what you hear live. No hidden tricks, no extra cellists hidden back stage... :)
2) All of the sounds have to come from my electric cello. These sounds include bass lines, percussion sounds, and rhythmic guitar-ish parts.

I am not on a label. I do not have investors. In order to do large projects, such as tours and new albums, I either pay for it myself, or have help from people like you.

I want to offer more workshops. I want to tour and teach more. I want to create larger projects with other musicians. I want to bring more to you... This all costs money to do, when you consider the time it takes to do it, and the expenses that are required. Considering the fact that the money I receive from a single album sale is roughly the cost of a single burrito and a soda, you can probably understand that the more I am supported by fans like you, the more I can offer in return.
